Route de Florissant 70

The House

a place, and the rules that hold it

This page does not sell an atmosphere. It describes a real place: how many steps, what floor, what acoustics, what is provided and what is not. You should be able to picture the room before entering it — that is half the work of putting someone at ease.

Arriving

The journey matters as much as the session. You do not arrive in the same state having hunted for the door for ten minutes as you do knowing exactly where to go.

From Krieg stopLines 8 and 21; the building is directly opposite the stop. Number 70 sits between the pharmacy and the BCGE bank: go into the courtyard, between the two.
By carFlorissant car park, under two minutes on foot — around CHF 4.20 for an hour and a half. Blue-zone spaces are also available on avenue Louis-Aubert.
The entranceA 1970s building. There is no nameplate for the Maison: ring Scevola, and the door opens automatically.
Reaching the floorLift to the second floor. As you step out, first door on the right.
When to comeWe ask you to arrive ten minutes early. The door closes at the stated time: once a session has begun, nobody comes in. It is the one rule we do not negotiate.
Opening hoursMonday to Friday, 9 am to 8 pm; Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 8 pm. By appointment only: without a booking there is nobody to receive you.
The room

One room, twenty mats, four points of diffusion. The plan below is the actual room, not an illustration.

Schematic plan of the room and layout of the twenty mats Threshold 20 tapis

Twenty mats, in five rows of four. The gap between mats is set so that nobody touches anyone else, even while moving a great deal.

Four points of diffusion, one per corner. This lets sound circulate around bodies rather than come from a stage. For innerdance this changes everything: there is no direction to listen to.

One threshold only. You come in and go out on the same side, the one furthest from the back mats.

DimensionsAbout 90 m², a rectangular room, 2.50 m ceiling height.
The floorWooden floor. Heating by conventional radiators.
AcousticsThe room has had no added acoustic treatment: its walls are thick and that is enough. You do not hear the outside, and the outside does not hear you.
Sound systemBose speakers distributed around the room, with a subwoofer. Low frequencies are what carry innerdance: it is the one technical element that genuinely matters here.
LightShutters and blinds make the room fully dark. During the session, lighting is limited to candles.
The architecture of silence

Silence is not a quality of walls. It is a series of decisions, and they have a cost.

Phones stay at the entrance. Not on silent, not in a bag: in a locker, switched off. A vibration in a room where twenty people have their eyes closed is heard by everyone.

One session at a time, with a gap between groups. Nobody crosses the previous group on its way out. It costs us a slot every day; it is what lets you leave a session without being put straight back into noise.

No music in the entrance, no conversation in the corridor. Silence starts before the room, or it does not exist inside it. It is also why we play nothing during massages unless you ask.

What is provided
Accessibility

We would rather say no in writing than let you discover an obstacle on arrival.

WheelchairNo, not independently. Four steps separate the courtyard from the building entrance , fitted with a handrail. The lift itself meets standards and reaches the second floor without difficulty. If you use a wheelchair, write to us before booking: we will look together at whether the entrance is possible with help, rather than let you discover it on arrival.
Reduced mobilityFour steps at the building entrance, with a handrail: that is the only obstacle. After that, the lift to the second floor and the first door on the right, all on one level. If the steps are a problem, say so: we will come down and accompany you.
Lying on the floorYes. If your back hurts or the floor is difficult for you, say so when booking: we set up a thicker mattress in your place.
Coming with someoneYes, and free of charge. There is a waiting room: your companion can wait there for the whole session. If it is better that they stay near you, they may also sit quietly in a corner of the room. Tell us when you book.
Receiving you

Two people, one place, and the choice not to fill the room more than necessary.

Details of our training and its dates are on the Innerdance page, in the transmission section. We would rather not repeat them here: this page is about the place, not about us.
